Meet Larry Lewis, the visionary behind Black in Jax, a passionate advocate for strengthening the Black community through anime. With a deep love for both anime and his community in Jacksonville, Florida, Larry founded Black in Jax with a clear vision: to unite Black anime enthusiasts, foster friendships, and empower individuals to overcome social barriers.
Amber
Moderator
Amber is one of our moderators and the smiling face behind many BIJ events. From Taco Tuesday to Workout Wednesday, she helps keep the community welcoming, organized, and fun. If you’ve been to an event and felt comfortable showing up as yourself, Amber likely played a part.
Laia Castlez
Admin
Meet Laia. The driving force behind Black in Jax. A Jacksonville native, Laia helped build the community to what it is today. With her bubbly personality, she ensures that every member feels welcome. As an admin, she ensures the Facebook group is operating efficiently and safely, she helps create and organize events, collaborates with local businesses and encourages meaningful discussions.
Jil Harris
Lead Moderator
As our lead moderator, Jil is one of the pillars of Black in Jax Anime. She has a gift for bringing people together and creating spaces where everyone feels comfortable and included. Her passion for friendship and community helps make BIJ more than just a group. It makes it feel like home.
Petra Hall
Moderator
Petra is a key part of bringing BIJ events to life. From helping with decorations and coordinating events to cooking delicious meals, she supports the community in so many ways. Known for her humor and warmth, Petra helps create a safe, joyful space for Black and brown anime lovers to connect and feel at home.
Red
Moderator
Meet Red. Red is an integral part of Black in Jax Anime, bringing energy positivity and unwavering support to the community. A familar face at every event, he shows up not just in presence but in spirit, always ready to engage, upligt and make every gathering more enjoyable.
Muuki
Discord Admin
As the Discord admin for Black in Jax Anime, Muuki helps keep the community organized, welcoming, and fun online. Whether it’s moderating chats or supporting members, Muuki makes sure the Discord feels just as safe and inclusive as our in-person events.
